The lottery bottles of the first Japanese Whisky Festival

Is 2020 a complete write-off? In yet more disappointing news, two festivals organized by the Japan Whisky Research Center have been cancelled.

The inaugural Japanese Whisky Festival, initially set for 12th April and subsequently pushed to 5th July, has been called off. Of course, it’s tremendously disappointing news because we were all looking forward to trying all the offerings, especially new make from the likes of Sakurao, Yasato and Nukada. If you entered the lottery for the right to buy the festival’s original bottles, you should have received your results by email.

The Osaka Whisky Festival, scheduled for 7th June, has also been cancelled.  The festival’s two original single cask bottles, a Benrinnes 11-year and a Caol Ila 11-year, are now available for purchase on the festival website.

Whisky lovers are now wondering if Whisky Talk Fukuoka will proceed in its new Fall slot of 22nd September.  Fingers crossed!
