One of the best events in the Japanese whisky festival calendar, Fukuoka Whisky Talk is a must for any serious aficionado. Kyushu, the most southerly of Japan’s four major islands, is home to numerous outstanding whisky bars, with excellent selections of scotch, bourbon and Japanese.
The event included booths from the Japanese whisky-makers Nikka, Suntory, Ichiro’s Malt, Mars, Asaka Sasanokawa, in addition to numerous importers and specialist retailers.

Tsuchiya-san of Whisky Kentei offered tastings of excellent bottles, including Kiyosato Field Ballet 27th, an outstanding example of Hanyu.

The Whisky Talk Precious Bar offered tastings of thirty rare whiskies at reasonable prices, including Macallan 1948 for Y18,000, Glenfarclas 1966 Fino for Y4,200, Bowmore Mizunara for Y2,800, and Yamazaki 1999 for Mempei for Y1,000.
Fukuoka is a tremendous city, with a number of superb whisky bars, some of which have a fine selection of Ichiro’s Malt Card Series and classic Macallans.

Finally, here are some of the entertainers at Whisky Talk: three beautiful classical musicians and a bagpiper.
